The solo exhibition "Rebellion" with works by David Cerny is now on display at the Crocker until January 12th. If you missed it at CECUT in MExico, this is your chance to travel to the California Capitol to see one of the most impressive exhibitions this year.

David Černý

Rebellion

 Oct 6, 2024 - Jan 12, 2025

Street artist, engineer, architect, pilot, rebel, and provocateur are all terms used to describe Czech artist David Černý, but the words that best capture his essence are innovator and disruptor. Černý is renowned for his large-scale sculptures in public spaces, which engage directly with everyday people and challenge authority through satire and mockery. All his works are deeply connected to the history of his homeland—the Czech Republic—and Europe more broadly in the post-World War II period. Whether he is paying tribute, critiquing politics, or crafting playful metaphors of modern society, he strives to engage viewers directly, creating pieces that are impossible to overlook, no matter who or what they address.

This exhibition was organized by the Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT), an institution of the Secretariat of Culture of the Government of Mexico, and made possible by HOHMANN, Inc.
