HOHMANN is pleased to present an exhibition of jd Hansen's work in the Palm Desert gallery on the occasion of the unveiling of her two sculptures in Palm Springs. Known for her evocative and psychologically charged figurative work, Hansen has established herself as a distinctive voice in contemporary sculpture, earning increasing recognition both nationally and internationally.

Working primarily in bronze, Hansen creates elongated human and animal forms that balance elegance with emotional tension. Her figures often convey a quiet intensity, where subtle shifts in posture and gesture suggest complex inner states. Through these refined details, she explores themes of vulnerability, strength, and nonverbal communication.

In recent works, Hansen incorporates welded copper script that flows around and through her sculptures. These delicate strands of writing act less as readable text and more as an atmospheric element—evoking memory, emotion, and the rhythms of thought. The contrast between solid bronze and fluid copper introduces a dynamic interplay between permanence and ephemerality, body and mind.

Material contrasts further enrich her work, as smooth, polished surfaces transition into rough, textured areas, reflecting emotional dualities within the figures. This balance of control and tension invites a deeper, more empathetic engagement from the viewer.

The unveiling in Palm Springs highlights Hansen’s continued exploration of form, material, and psychological expression, offering a compelling opportunity to experience the depth and nuance of her work in a public setting.
