Maura Segal - New Works

Segal Blog PostNew works by Maura Segal are available to view by appointment at our Village Court gallery.

Los Angeles-based Maura Segal’s abstract canvases conjure a delicate simplicity upon first impression. Blocks of color languidly splay behind exquisitely thin meandering lines which create voluptuous curves and freeform fluidities. Yet upon closer investigation, the artist’s focal craftsmanship is confirmed as the foundational background textures and foreground lines reveal themselves as intricately hand-cut patterns and strips of paper laid below and atop paint.

This concealment of an overall complexity in Segal’s detailed approach is inspired by her love of modern architecture and minimalism; both of which inform her work constructively and aesthetically. She has exhibited in shows across the United States and her work can be found in several private and corporate collections.
