Artist Update: Doug Smith

Our beloved artist, painter Doug Smith, is taking a break from painting for health reasons and we are all wishing him a speedy recovery. Recently, we received all his latest paintings and they are now available to view online or by appointment at our Palm Desert gallery. If you have been thinking about a Doug Smith painting, please have a look. The paintings are not currently on display, but we would be happy to prepare any work for you to view in person at our Palm Desert gallery by appointment.

VIEW AVAILABLE WORKS BY DOUG SMITH

Doug Smith’s uniquely composed landscape paintings marry Abstract Expressionism and Color Field genres with American nostalgia. Upon first view, we see large blocks of bold color and strata representing open sky and variations in topography yet upon closer inspection, we see the middle lines of the canvas presenting us with sweetly articulated home estates harkening to a simpler, rural time.
